Here is some food for thought just in time for the second half of the season. Is this Lobel coming out with a juicy story, or is it a case of Lobel being back on the sauce?
Boston.com - According to former WBZ sports director Bob Lobel, Manny Ramirez was fined a six-figure amount for his June […]
Eh! It’s Monday. What else can you say?
The Celtics decided to push my limits of sleep deprivation. Things here will return back to normal once they decide to give me my pillow back and wrap this series up Tuesday night.
The Red Sox took care of business this weekend against Cincinnati. Crisp with a couple of BIG swings. Was he showing off the skills for a possible trade for Griffey? (We hope not!)
So it’s the middle of the month. How about we give away something today?
Here is a funny story resurfacing over at Deadspin today. It seems Jonathan Papelbon and the Red Sox bullpen like the “moneyshots”.
The quick and “dirty” rundown:
We have a quick post for you today. We want to touch upon a few blazing topics and get some input from you.
J.D Drew
In Drew’s last 13 games (since May 25th against Oakland) – he has had 38 at bats, 17 hits, 4 HRs, 10 RBIs, and 8 BBs. In those 13 games he has .447BA, .542 OBP and a .895 SLG.
Is Drew finally coming around, is it a product of batting ahead of Manny, or is it a little of both?
WOW!
What an odd night last night. I mean honestly, can anyone think of a stranger night/day in Boston sports history? If you can think of any that can compare, post them, I’d love to hear. (Hint hint: Good way to get into our contest)
Let’s break it down in a somewhat chronological order:
It’s Contest Time!
As we mentioned yesterday, we are going to be running contests all month long here at TheYawkeyWay.com. Without further ado, here is the first contest.
If you follow any other Boston Red Sox blog(s), you have probably seen one or two contests giving away the newest Red Sox Box Set, The Boston Red Sox: Essential Games of Fenway Park. We were able to get our “mits” on two copies. Seemed like a great chance to give them away to our readers. (We received a third copy but had to hold onto it!)
As you all probably know, David Ortiz was put on the 15-day DL. There will be a black cast on his wrist for two weeks, and some reports have us trying to deal with 30 days of the DTs as we go through Big Papi withdrawals (some reports say longer)!
Are you thinking about joining the others on the ledge?
Have you contemplated the sale of your child on Craig’s List just to grab some of the “good stuff” until the torture is over?
Ease up! We at TheYawkeyWay.com have taken it upon ourselves to help ease the collective pain of Red Sox Nation. We have come up with a month-long plan, filled with contests, prizes and gifts.
We are 2 months deep into the 2008 Boston Red Sox schedule . A total of 55 Remy Scorecards have been filled out. While it may not be the gorilla in the room yet, it’s got to be a small monkey. So let us ask this, does Red Sox Nation have to start “considering” the Tampa Day Rays as a legitimate threat this season?
Let’s some go through some of the yeas and nays, shall we?
We have been MIA the past couple days. We’ve missed commenting on Gabe’s return, missed talking about Jon Lester’s no-hitter, and even missed mentioning how good Justin Masterson has looked in his two starts for the Red Sox. Let’s chalk it up to some pretty tense times in TheYawkeyWay.com office. You see, when the Celtics decide it will be fun to go seven games with Cleveland and then turn around on a days rest to face Detroit, agida tends to kicks into high gear. Writing took a back seat to popping Prilosec and screaming at the television set. We apologize.
Josh Beckett was filthy last night. Too bad it was Beckett’s cursing during the post-game. The Boston Red Sox are on a three game slide, and dropped out of first last night. Luckily, it’s a 3:05pm game today and Daniel Cabrera is on the mound.
Here are some numbers to chew on:
7-6 Twins. Papelbon draws deuces – 2 hits, 2 earned runs, 2 blown saves in his last 2 appearances. Do you know what we think? So what!
Maybe we are crazy, but here is why:
