If We Don’t Talk About It Will It Go Away?

We are going to bite our lip. Everyone is talking about “him”. It’s here, - it’s here and its here. I know the other day we said we would talk about it more, and we will, but we are going to hold off on it right now. We are going to try and be the bigger man and not jump on “his” case. Well not today at least. We’ll refrain from complaining about the 10 errors already this season – compared to 19 all of last year.

Let us remind you, through May 8th of last year, “he” was leading off with these not so solid numbers - .229 BA, .306 OBP, and .314 SLG. As of last night “he” is at the bottom of the order batting .293 with a .354 OBP and .353 SLG.

Are you that confident about Lowrie stepping in? Is the range there? It looks like Jed won’t be sent down when Alex Cora returns, so that makes for an interesting decision. Stay tuned!

We can dream about Gonzalez riding into Fenway by limo, can’t we? I mean, Jeff Keppinger is holding his own in Cincy.

A couple of side notes:

- With the dreams of Alex G. manning SS at Fenway still in our heads, we also spent some time hoping that huge layoff off between Tavarez appearances was due to the trade rumors to Colorado.

If Lowrie isn’t going down and Sean Casey is also coming back – who goes? While we wouldn’t mind seeing the 7.15 ERA and 2.12 WHIP go, who comes in when someone like Buchholz can only go 4 innings?

- Jacoby Ellsbury is 13-for-13 in stolen bases this season, and 22-for-22 in his career. Tim Raines better be ready to hand over the longest streak without being caught to start a career! During the 1979-1981 season Rock started 27-for-27.

- If you haven’t yet, get over to MLB.com and cast your All-Star votes. We don’t need to remind you who needs to be the 2008 AL East MLB All-Star second baseman, do we?
