7-6 Twins. Papelbon draws deuces – 2 hits, 2 earned runs, 2 blown saves in his last 2 appearances. Do you know what we think? So what!
Maybe we are crazy, but here is why:
- Lester is okay. I don’t want to speak for everyone, but my left eye quickly started twitching as I saw him hopping around first base - having to take a knee on the turf. Visions of Tavarez in the rotation starting dancing around my head. Julian Tavarez is not a sugar plum my friends.
- Ellsbury is now 14-for-14 on steal attempts this season. By the way, JD got caught stealing in the 5th, which put an end to the Sox’ streak of 21 consecutive steals.
- Granted it was against Boof Bonser and Friends, but the Boston Red Sox offense continues to fight back when they are down. Twins take an early 2-0 lead last night, but the Sox quickly tie it up. By the end of the 4th Minnesota is ahead 5-2, and again, Boston fights back and scores 4 in the top of the 5th to take the lead. The Red Sox offense is looking good.
- Are you honestly that concerned about Jonathan Papelbon? Seriously.
Here are some more quick thoughts for you:
- Carlos Gomez is good. The Red Sox had to give up Hanley Ramirez for Josh Beckett (and Mikey Lowell), and I’d bet giving up Gomez for Santana had to sting just as bad. He has very good speed, and the discipline at the plate (for a 22 yr old) looks pretty decent.
- Speaking of Hanley Ramirez – this looks like a sweet deal for him.
- It’s coming – just a couple days away. The return of Gabe Kapler! Oh yeah … “Gag Me” Gagne will be there too.
- This just in! Kei Igawa stinks. 11 hits and 6 runs in 3+ innings.
